Privacy Policy

Who we are

This site is operated by the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation (PECF). The PECF was chartered by the United States Congress in 1893 to operate Washington National Cathedral and its affiliated organizations. The PECF is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a not-for-profit, educational 501(c)3 organization.

The information we collect

The PECF and Washington National Cathedral collect certain Customer Identifiable Information from those who visit the Cathedral’s website and either request information or register to be a supporter of the Cathedral (make a donation or join the National Cathedral Association). “Customer Identifiable Information” is information that can be associated with a specific individual, including name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, credit card number and expiration date, gift or membership history, and other directly related information stemming from online donations or memberships and that is directly linked to the individuals and their transactions. This information may be merged with other information the PECF or Cathedral already knows, such as whether you have previously contributed to the Cathedral, have been an association member or have named the Cathedral as the recipient of an estate or other planned gift, etc., or information available from other sources such as credit card verification and credit services and dealers. The PECF servers automatically collect through the use of log files information about what sites visitors came from and which pages are visited at the PECF/Cathedral site. The foundation uses this information in the aggregate.

Uses & Disclosure

Customer Identifiable Information will be used to process transactions through this website, including credit card and e-check processing.

E-mail addresses may be used (unless otherwise requested) to send you information about the Cathedral, Cathedral events and programs, Cathedral services, Cathedral merchandise, and opportunities to support the Cathedral through additional gifts or memberships. Your name and address may also be provided to Cathedral representatives (“Regional Chairs”) for the same purposes on a regional level. None of your Customer Identifiable Information will be shared with organizations outside the PECF and the Cathedral. Customer Identifiable Information may also be used by the operators of this site to identify and suggest services and opportunities that might interest you. This information is not shared in customer identifiable form with entities other than the PECF or Washington National Cathedral.

When you click on one of these links, you will be transferred from the PECF website and connected to the website of the organization that you selected. Each of these linked sites maintains its own independent privacy and data collection policies and procedures. If you visit a website that is linked to a PECF site, you should consult that site's privacy policy before providing those sites with any of your personal information.

Our approach to data security

To prevent unauthorized use of your Customer Identifiable Information, we have put in place stringent physical, electronic, and managerial procedures.
