Roy Enquist
The Rev. Dr. Roy Enquist, former canon ecumenist of Washington National Cathedral, and Cathedral chaplain, died on April 13, 2010, following a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 1 pm in the great choir of Washington National Cathedral. The Rt. Rev. John Bryson Chane will preside, and the Rev. Richard H. Graham, bishop of the Metropolitan Washington, D.C., Synod of the ELCA, will preach. Parking is available on the grounds or in the parking garage. A reception will follow the service in the Pilgrim Observation Gallery located on the seventh floor of the Cathedral.
Enquist, ordained by the Evangelical Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania, served as pastor in several settings, was professor emeritus of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and has been teaching in the doctor of ministry program of the Virginia Theological Seminary since 1995.
He is survived by his wife Mia Ingeborg and sons Krister of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Paul Michael of Cary, North Carolina.
