Holy Eucharist and Celebration of American Preaching and Earth Day and Ohio Day
On the national celebration of Earth Day our worship focuses on environmental stewardship. On this day we particularly recognize our responsibility to God’s creation. In addition, Washington National Cathedral remembers in its prayers each week the people of one state. On April 25 we lift up the state of Ohio and pay tribute to its people. The service will be led by the Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr., Episcopal bishop of Ohio, and the Rt. Rev. Thomas E. Breidenthal, Episcopal bishop of Southern Ohio. It is also our pleasure to welcome Brian McLaren, founding pastor of Cedar Ridge Community Church in Baltimore, Maryland, as guest preacher. An author, speaker, activist, and networker among innovative Christian leaders, he left the pastorate in 2006 to devote himself full-time to writing and speaking.
