Christian Peace Witness for Iraq Service

Event image

To mark the fourth anniversary of the Iraq War, nearly three thousand Christians of all denominations and from 48 states filled Washington National Cathedral to pray for peace on Friday evening, March 16.

The Christian Peace Witness for Iraq service included readings from the New Testament, excerpts from letters and diaries of soldiers and Iraqi citizens, a lamentation, and a call to action to end the American presence in Iraq. Among the speakers were prominent religious leaders and peace activists. Choirs of Washington National Cathedral and the gospel choir, Performing Artists Under the Lord, provided musical leadership assisted by the Cathedral‘s organists.
