Kindling the Flame: An Evening Pilgrimage Celebrating Saint Brigid

Event image

Join us for an engaging and contemplative evening that celebrates Brigid’s life and legend and inspires us to renew hope and growth in our own lives.

Brigid of Kildare was a famous abbess in Ireland and is one of Ireland’s “patron saints,” from whom we can learn much in today’s chaotic world. St. Brigid is celebrated throughout the Celtic world for her healing presence, warm hospitality, and wise counsel. She embodies an earlier mythology of the Celtic Goddess Brigid who blessed births, lambs, and harvests. Brigid’s feast day stands at the threshold of winter and spring, falling on the first day of spring in the Celtic calendar. As such, celebrating Brigid in our lives today offers the promise of renewal and new growth.

Tiffany Montavon, coordinator of the Center for Prayer and Pilgrimage, guides the evening with poetry, creative expression, guided reflection, song, and silence.

Program location: Cathedral College Common Room.
