How Jesus Became Anti-Jewish: Misreading Scripture

Event image

Jewish New Testament scholar Amy-Jill Levine explored the teachings of Jesus and Paul in the context of first-century Judaism. Levine discussed how their views, when taken on by the gentile churches, left behind the Judaism filtered through the rabbinical tradition.

The audience joined Professor Levine in examining important historical and religious questions. Do the authentic voices of Jesus and Paul help contemporary Jews understand their heritage? Have they anything to say to contemporary Judaism at all? How might a truer sense of the Jewish message of Jesus and Paul change how contemporary Christians see their own faith?
