Minority Status: Islam
Yahya Hendi
To be a minority brings with it a particular perspective to social relations, the practice of public worship, and questions of religious integrity. Judaism, Islam and Christianity have particular stories to tell about having a minority status.
Over three Sundays at the forum hour, we will hear about the impact being a minority has had on Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, and explore briefly the contemporary implications this status has for each tradition.
On this second Sunday The Rev. Lyndon Shakespeare, director for programs and ministry, will provide a framework for the series and introduce our guest speaker, Imam Yahya Hendi, Muslim chaplain of Georgetown University.
The series concludes on February 5 with guest speaker The Rev. Canon Ralph Godsall, Westminster Abbey, London.
