Lecture by James Alison on “Embodying ‘God’s Earth-shaking Mercy’” Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams has said that James Alison’s book Faith Beyond Resentment: Fragments Catholic and Gay, like other great theological writings, has #0147;the power to make us feel as if it is time we became Christian.” Alison compasssionately invites gay and lesbian people to embody “God’s Earth-shaking Mercy” to challenge theological notions that homosexuality is evil. Alison addressed how Jesus’s actions and teachings avoided scapegoating, giving us examples and inspiration to live beyond resentment publicly and with public influence as he did.
