Church of the Epiphany Street Church

Street Church draws us into celebration of the Holy Eucharist with the homeless in the heart of one of DC's business districts near Metro Center. Each Tuesday, we prepare lunch at The Church of the Epiphany and then move to Franklin Park to worship and serve lunch to our homeless guests. On October 26, our new vicar Reverend Jan Naylor Cope will preside at the Eucharist that begins at 1:00 pm. Join the worship service at Franklin Park or, if you are able, volunteer to help with the meal.

To volunteer for this day or any Tuesday, please contact coordinator MaryJo DeMatteis

Volunteers are needed to help prepare sandwiches at Epiphany, 1317 G St, NW, and to invite people to worship, usher, and distribute food and water. The timeframe is 11:30 am to 2 pm.

  • 11:30 Approximately 12 volunteers make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
  • 12:00 Group discussion, assignments, prayer.
  • 12:30 Push carts with sandwiches, fruit, soup and more to Franklin Park, 14th & K Sts.
  • 1:00 Eucharist and Healing Prayers
  • 1:25 Lunch is served by volunteers; group interaction
