Live Web Streaming of National Prayer Service at Washington National Cathedral; Complete List of Service Participants
Back to Press Releases »WASHINGTON, D.C.The National Prayer Service in celebration of the inauguration of President Obama and Vice President Biden scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, will be streamed live by Washington National Cathedral, www.nationalcathedral.org. The service begins at 10 am and will be shown in its entirety.
Media and the public wanting to learn more about the history of inaugural prayer services and Washington National Cathedrals role in national events can log onto www.nationalcathedral.org. A photo gallery of presidential visits is included, and online visitors can light virtual candles and leave messages of hope.
On the service, the Very Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, Cathedral dean, commented, Our new president, his Cabinet members, members of Congress and many more will assemble for a service both ecumenical and interfaith, reflecting the diversity of our nation.
The Rev. Canon Carol L. Wade, precentor at Washington National Cathedral, said, In preparing this worship, I drew upon previous national prayer services but also crafted prayers, drawing in part from Lincolns Inaugural address. It has been a joy to create a service that reflects the aspirations of hope and unity expressed by President Obama in this significant time in our nations history.
