WASHINGTON, D.C. — Where do you turn when the people and things you thought most important to you fail? How do you respond to sudden changes in career, wealth, esteem, or relationships?
Tim Keller, one of America’s most popular Christian authors and most vibrant church leaders, believes the current economic crisis offers a unique opportunity for people to re-evaluate their lives, priorities, and faith.
On Thursday evening, November 5, at 7:30, Keller and Cathedral Dean Sam Lloyd will explore the notion of “counterfeit gods,” how people become entrapped by false notions of security and success and where the answers can be found.
The event includes a 30-minute presentation by Keller on his latest book, Counterfeit Gods: The Empty Promises of Money, Sex, and Power, and the Only Hope that Matters, followed by a discussion between Keller and Dean Lloyd, with opportunities for the audience to ask questions. A book signing follows the Q&A.
The Rev. Tim Keller is founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Started in 1989, Redeemer now has more than 5,000 regular Sunday attendees, in addition to members of more than 100 new churches organized through Redeemer around the world. Keller is also the author of The Prodigal God and the New York Times bestseller The Reason for God.
Ticket prices range from $13 to $18; tickets can be purchased online or by phone: (202) 537-2228.
