Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the Cathedral bring back the NCA?

The NCA has an historic record of success in building support for the Cathedral across the country, having played an essential role in the Cathedral’s construction. We now realize that a vibrant NCA is also essential to the Cathedral’s future. Efforts to transition to a new program (Partners in Mission) were not successful, and the Cathedral is proud to re-introduce the NCA.

What does the Cathedral hope to accomplish in doing so?

The Cathedral needs to continue to deepen its connection with current supporters, but even more importantly, welcome new friends in effective ways. The NCA will be a key element in the cultivation of Cathedral supporters in every corner of the nation.

What does the new governing structure look like?

Currently there are no plans to formulate an active governance structure, however Craig McKee continues in his governance role as NCA president and sits on the Cathedral Chapter to represent NCA members.

What about NCA Regional Volunteer Leaders?

The NCA is being reinvigorated in keeping with the new economy in which we live, and we will need to rely more on volunteer goodwill and less on staff capacity that we can no longer afford. NCA leaders have been among our most effective ambassadors in the past, and we hope to continue to rely on them to act as representatives for the Cathedral in their communities. We will continue to provide up-to-date materials for distribution and presentation in advocating for the Cathedral.

As the new NCA takes shape in the months to come we look forward to working with NCA volunteers and supporters to assess how we can best support events, networks, and activities in the year ahead.

What does this mean for Partners in Mission?

Partners in Mission will be replaced by the newly invigorated NCA program.

How do I receive my new card?

By now, everyone should have received their new NCA membership card. However, the Cathedral shops will continue to honor all Partners in Mission cards through December 31, 2010. If you are currently a partner and have yet to receive your card, please contact Caye Burry by email at nca@cathedral.org or by phone at (202) 537-5532.

Will we still receive benefits?

Yes, the benefits are similar to those you received as a Partner or former NCA member.
