From the Vicar

Dear Congregation,

Over the past several weeks there have been many farewells. So I won't belabor my leave taking with another long message here.

Huber

I leave today for a two-week Baltic Cruise. I'm looking forward to a little change of pace and visiting some new places, including St. Petersburg. I'll be back in DC in July and then will head to Los Angeles in August.

The Rev. Tim Boggs arrives on July 1 and a new vicar will follow. The Rev. Wendy Tobias in the Worship Department will continue to be involved in the pastoral care of the congregation. This team of clergy will lovingly shepherd the congregation with you. Tim is looking forward to his involvement with the congregation as a top priority in his role as cathedral provost. So while departures are hard, there is also cause for excitement about the future. A new clergy team is in formation to join with you in strengthening, deepening, and molding the congregation.

I hope some time of rest and a change of pace are possible for each of you this summer. Dear friends, it has been a great privilege to serve as your priest. I will forever hold you in my heart.

With love,
Steve

Summer Congregation Connections

Summer Roses

This July and August, take some time to enjoy the company of fellow members and learn something new about the people of the Cathedral. The Cathedral Congregation Committee invites you to a series of gatherings that will bring the “behind-the-scenes" of the Cathedral to the forefront. Every week, during the “Sunday Forum” spot from 10:10 to 11 am, we’ll explore a different aspect of the Cathedral community with a lively program that promises to give you an opportunity to get to know others in the Cathedral. The first connection is on Sunday, July 11, with Dean Lloyd.

For our growing congregation, this summer is the time to nurture ties that bind us to one another and to our spiritual home, the Cathedral. Whether you join in one Connection gathering or come all summer long, you will be helping the congregation take its next step toward becoming a vibrant community. Watch for additional details on the congregation home page and expect to see more events emerge, including evening docent tours for members.

Congregation Directory

After much proofing, editing, and preparing, the very first Cathedral Congregation Directory was distributed on June 3.

You already received the directory electronically if your email address appears in the directory. Members without emails can request a paper copy; check at the congregation table on Sunday.

We have worked hard to achieve accuracy, consistency, and completeness—while respecting the privacy of members. If (or perhaps, when) you find an error or need to report an update, please email congregation@cathedral.org »

Finally, this directory has been assembled to promote fellowship and communication among congregation members. Please do not use its contents for other business or association purposes, and please refrain from forwarding, emailing, or printing it for people not part of the congregation.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this a successful first directory!
