Vicar Search
April 1, 2010

Dear Friends,

I’m writing to fill you in on the progress made so far in the process of calling a new vicar to replace Steve Huber.

In mid-February I formed a search committee representative of both the Cathedral congregation and the chapter to assist me in this search. The committee is providing advice and counsel in the process of making the call (in consultation with both the chapter and the bishop). As promised at our congregation’s annual meeting, we are moving with care but also with deliberateness to bring a new vicar on board as soon as possible, particularly given our small clergy staff at the moment.

The work is off to a vigorous start. The committee has already worked with me in developing a position description, has conducted a survey of the congregation (more than 200 of you replied) and tabulated and discussed the results, has planned and conducted some early interviews, and is reviewing résumés.

The members of the search committee are: Steve Beam, Rich Bland (from the chapter), Ginny Bradford, Julie Collins (chair), Lynn Harris, Carleton Jones, Eric Motley (also from the chapter), Nancy Stockbridge, and Tom Van Alen. I am very grateful for their hard work already, with more to come in the next few weeks.

Our hope is to call a new vicar by June 1, and to have him or her in place as soon as possible thereafter. Please pray for the committee and me as we carry out this important work.

With best wishes and prayers for a blessed Holy Week,

Sam Lloyd
